Ms. Tokiwa T. Smith is an Author, Consultant, Nonprofit Executive and Speaker; having over 19 years’ experience in academia, government, and philanthropy. An alumna of Florida A & M University and native of Miami, Florida, she has worked for organizations such as Atlanta Public Schools, California State University East Bay, Georgia State University, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory and Spelman College. Ms. Smith is the Principal of  Tokiwa T. Smith Consulting, a boutique consulting firm that does work in racial equity in education and philanthropy for clients in academia, corporate, government and nonprofit/philanthropy. She also serves as the Founder and Executive Director of Science, Engineering and Mathematics Link Inc., also known as SEM Link, a nonprofit organization and the Founder of the Sista Nonprofit Network, an online community for Black women nonprofit leaders.   Ms. Smith currently serves on advisory boards and committees of several organizations including serving on the Wisdom Council of Southern Black Girls and Women Consortium.

Ms. Smith’s work has been featured in several media outlets including Scientific American, US Black Engineer, Ebony Magazine, National Public Radio (NPR), Atlanta Magazine, CW Atlanta, and Voyage Atlanta.  An author of the books Experimental Design Process: A Guide for High School Students to Conduct Research Like A Research Scientist and A Guide to Hosting STEM Events, she is also a sought-after contributor to magazines and other publications.  Ms. Smith has been recognized by her peers in education and philanthropy with honors and awards including the  2022 Atlanta’s Top 100 Women of Influence for the Atlanta Business League, 2022 Finalist for Women on the Year in Science for Women in Technology Atlanta, a 2020 million Women Mentors Trailblazer Award as a Community Trailblazer, the 2019 Torchbearer’s Award for Excellence in Science Education from DeKalb County Public Schools and the 2018 the Black Engineer of the Year Award (BEYA) Educational Leadership Award for K-12 Promotion of Education. Ms. Smith was selected for the 2021 Philanthropy 100 List curated by Unboxed Philanthropy Advisors.  In 2019, she was selected as one of Atlanta Magazine’s Women Making a Mark honorees. Ms. Smith is a member of the Junior League of Atlanta and former member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc. Northwest Georgia Chapter. She is an alumna of the 2019 Coaching Fellowship, 2018 Foundation Center South (now known as Candid) Boys and Men of Color Executive Director Collaborative Circle and the United Way Volunteer Involvement Program (VIP). She currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia.
